Because of elected officials like Senator Abel Tapia:
Amendment 54 aims to eliminate cozy no-bid contract deals between elected officials and companies they own or who support their campaigns. And as the ad points out, while it’s one job of the press to investigate government activities and keep our representatives honest, we shouldn’t have to rely on journalists alone to ferret out this sort of corruption - and we don’t.
Besides placing strict limits on no-bid contracts and campaign donations from companies receiving them, Amendment 54 will create for Colorado a searchable database of these contracts, giving regular citizens the ability to see for themselves whether or not their elected officials are being honest and responsible stewards of taxpayer funds.
Voting YES on Amendment 54 will help clean up Colorado government by ending these “backroom deals”.

I just heard a radio ad about fire fighters not being able to get oxygen tanks and nurses not being able to take care of our children if Amendments 49 and 54 pass. I doubt that Coloradans believe the garbage coming out of big labor and big business against this amendment. Tapia’s a perfect example: the only ones hurt by Amendment 54 are those in the corrupt Good ‘Ol Boy network.
