Just as I predicted, the amnesty bill is back from the dead. Or at least one tentacle of it, the DREAM Act of 2007, which opponents are up in arms about because it reportedly permits illegal aliens to obtain in-state tuition. I’m no Congressman (thank heavens) but it seems to go beyond that to offer a form of amnesty to illegal aliens who obtain a high school diploma, GED, two years of college, or complete two years of military service. Retroactively, as well, and with no numerical limitations on how many illegal aliens can qualify for the change to legal resident status under the provisions of the act.
It’s time to call your Senators and Representatives again, and tell them to vote against this stealth amnesty bill.
Sen. Allard voted against the last amnesty bill, but hasn’t yet committed to vote against this one. His offices can be reached via the numbers on this page, or through the email form here.
Sen. Salazar voted for the last amnesty bill (shocker, I know), but also hasn’t yet committed to a vote on the DREAM Act. You can call his office to support a NO vote through the numbers on this page.
The focus as last time is on the Senate, but you can also help muster opposition to the bill in the House should it make it that far by contacting your state representatives via the numbers listed here.
